Hand-over for Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Project (Community School)
On 13th March 2012, hand-over ceremony of the Project for the construction of community school buildings was held The Government of Japan has provided a grant amounting to 112,211 United States dollars to Destiny Community Centre in Chingola through Grant Assistance for the Grass-roots Human Security Projects scheme. THe Grant Contract between the Government of Japan and Destiny Community Centre was signed on 15th August in Lusaka by H.E. Mr. Akio Egawa, Ambassador of Japan to Zambia and Mr. Kennedy Shikalumbi, the Directror of the organization.
The purpose of the grant is to support the project for construction of a 1 x 5 classroom block and an abulution block in Kapisha area in Chingola. Also, 80 sets of desks and chairs will be purchased. So far the organization has been renting a small independent church building to accomodate some 180 children. It is expected that by constructing new classrooms, the educational environment of children in the area will be improved.
