Signing of the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects

Government of Japan has provided a grant amounting to 753,116 United States dollars to Japan Anti-Tuberculosis Association (JATA) through Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects scheme. Grant Agreement between the Government of Japan and JATA Zambia was signed on March 3, 2011 in Lusaka by Ambassador of Japan in Zambia Mr. Akio Egawa and Ms. Naoko Omuro, Representative of JATA Zambia Office. The purpose of the grant is to facilitate the implementation of the Project for TB/HIV Community DOTS(Directly Obserbed Treatment Short-course) with people-centered approach in Zambia, Phase III. The project activities include TB diagnosis utilizing X-ray examination, HIV/AIDS counseling and testing services, and treatment support by TB volunteers. The Government of Japan has also provided grant funding for the Phase I and II of the same project since 2008.
